Mission
To provide a complete and comprehensive approach for obtaining and maintaining absolute health. To provide a caring and interactive environment where families can learn how to take responsibility for their health. To change your relationship with gravity through precise and gentle upper cervical adjustments, resulting in improvement of the QUALITY in your everyday life.

NUCCA
NUCCA is a precise technique that focuses on finding and calculating the exact misalignment in the upper cervical spine. The top bone in the neck, known as the Atlas, or C1, is different from all the other vertebrae in the spine. It is a small 4-6 ounce bone located between the skull and the rest of the spine. One of the major differences of the atlas bone is that it does not have any interlocking joints either with the skull above it or the vertebrae beneathe it, giving us the ability to rotate our heads from side to side. Consequently, the stability of that area of the spine is compromised. In addition, this very small bone supports the weight of the entire head, up to 12-15 pounds (imagine the weight of a bowling ball). Its easy to see how misalignments of the Atlas can be created given the lack of stability and added stress in the upper c ervical spine. Any trauma even as seemingly insignificant as a bump to the head, a fall, a small fender bender, or even using your head as a fulcrum to turn while sleeping can easily cause the Atlas bone to slip and misalign.

Why is this important?
One of your body's highest control centers, the brainstem, is located at the base of the skull and the area of the Atlas. The brainstem is situated between the brain and the spinal cord and is primarily responsible for postural control, respiration, circulation, alertness and consciousness, and conducts all neural activity , including pain sensitivity, traveling between the brain and body. The slightest amount of pressure placed on the brainstem will affect any one of its major functions.

The NUCCA technique makes use of precise x-rays taken of the upper cervical spine. In analyzing these x-rays precise measurements are taken utilizing physics, geometry, and biomechanics which reveals to the NUCCA practitioner how your body is misaligned and how to correct it. Every person with a misalignment will have a unique pattern of misalignment that can only be determined through this method of analysis and precise measurement of their x-rays. The x-ray findings are then correlated with a complete postural analysis. Since there are no interlocking joints, very little force is needed to move this bone. Therefore, a very gentle adjustment can be used to correct the misalignment. The patient rarely feels anything more than a light touch on the side of the neck.

Nasal Specific
Nasal Specific technique is a carefully administered procedure that unwinds the body and returns it to optimal function by shifting the cranial plates of the skull and relieving pinned up pressure within the cerebral spinal fluid and nervous system. Releasing this pressure? reestablishes the flow of cerebrospinal fluid to the body and proper blood flow to the brain.

People who can benefit from Nasal Specific are those with abnormal breathing patterns, allergies, sinus problems, headaches, migraines, memory problems, upper back pain, chronic fatigue, arthritis, hearing or vision problems, loss of concentration, emotional issues, and many others.

Dr. Michelle C Bean graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in Biology. She then went on to attend Life Chiropractic College West in the bay area and graduated with high honors in 2006. Since graduating, Dr. Bean has trained with Dr. Robert Goodman, president of the NUCCA organization for one year, and with Meakim and Stern Family Spinal Care in San Francisco for one year. Dr. Bean is an active member of the NUCCA organization is currently working towards becoming Board Certified.

Dr. Bean has been involved in many athletic activities throughout her life. She enjoys mixed martial arts training, hiking, running, raquetball, weight training, soccer, softball, snowboarding, mountain biking, salsa/cumbia dancing, and after a long day of activities, stretching! She has always been looking for ways to improve and maintain natural health to aid in her everyday activites and in peak performance with sports. Dr. Bean discovered chiropractic in 2003 while preparing for her 1st degree black belt in martial arts. Her investigation into the science, art, and philosophy of chiropractic, specifically upper cervical chiropractic, ignited her passion for the profession and has been leading a truly natural holistic lifestyle ever since.
